MEDION AKOYA T80 MD35426

Asked for my unvarnished opinion about the purchased device. Here it is: The Medion Akoya T80 MD34590 is a surprisingly small machine with the performance of a large desktop tower. This is mainly due to the installed i7 processor, unusually powerful for a machine in this price range. After the necessary installation problems I now use the thing with pleasure. There are some disadvantages with the expansion possibilities. The device comes with 16Gb Ram memory and 1 SSD with 1 Tb storage. I wanted to use the indicated expansion to 32 Gb Ram and an extra internal Sata SSD of 2 Tb. When asked, it was confirmed to me in the store that this was not a problem. However, the recommended and additionally ordered 32 Gb DDR4 memory strips did not fit because the motherboard contains so-called SODIMM laptop memory. This is not in the specifications. After consultation with customer service, this could be exchanged without any problems in the store. The expansion with an extra internal SSD disk (as indicated in the specifications) turned out to be completely impossible. The motherboard does have a Sata data connection, but a connection cable for the power supply of a Sata SSD disk is not included and is not available anywhere. Attempt to inquire with the manufacturer is not possible, via the English site of Medion I get the message: "spare parts for this machine not available". Up to 4 times with lengthy calls to Coolblue customer service where I was spoken to patiently and with great expertise. But Coolblueu could not help me with the necessary cable either. Extremely strange, because the specifications explicitly state that a connection for an internal 2.5" hard disk is available. In the end, I solved the problem by exchanging the already purchased 2Tb internal SSD disk for an external fast 2Tb SSD with a USBC3.2 connection. Not very elegant, because my data disk is now hanging on the outside of the computer with an external USB cable. However, the operation and speed of this disk is satisfactory. Kudos for the extensive help and patience of the customer service people. Finally, to summarize: although I am satisfied with the device as it currently functions, I would certainly not recommend or advise it to someone else, especially where the lack of clarity about the memory and storage expansion is concerned. Very satisfied with Coolblue, very dissatisfied with the complete inaccessibility for information and help from the manufacturer of this computer.
