RØDE XDM-100 Microphone

The RodeX XDM-100 is a streaming microphone for the streamer looking for a replacement for their current streaming microphone. The box contains the microphone, USB cable, a pop filter and a shock mount. I can easily connect the microphone to your laptop or PC via the USB cable. I also needed the RodeX Unify software to set up the microphone.

Design This microphone is a bit on the large side. If you don't have a lot of space, it will be difficult to use it. However, a shock mount is included as standard, so I can also use the microphone without a microphone arm. You can easily screw it on and there is just enough space to connect the cable. I do recommend using a microphone arm. This way you have a little more space and freedom of movement on your desk. On the microphone you have a rotary knob and a mute button, with which you can easily adjust your sound. You connect your headset via the 3.5 millimeter connection on the front.

Recordings The included pop filter helps filter loud sounds such as words with a 'p' or 'd' and background noise. As a result, I hear almost no noise in my recordings. My voice sounds full and clear when listening back to the recordings. What I do notice is that I have to adjust the settings through the software for the best sound.

RodeX Unify software Like most streaming microphones, this microphone also comes with software. You can use this for free when purchasing a RodeX product, which is great if you still want to fine-tune your sound. I must say that it takes quite a bit of time to set everything up properly. There are different profiles, channels you add and system settings you need to adjust or set up to properly record all sounds.
