Clean Air Optima CA-603

Received the device yesterday. Beautiful design. And operation is very simple. In the highest setting, a considerable amount of water vapor comes out, so that the room quickly reaches the right humidity. The large water tank ensures that the water only needs to be topped up every now and then (especially if the room has the right humidity). The fixed filter ensures that you do not always have to buy filters (provided you clean them regularly).

Primarily, this device is encouraged for its whisper-quiet nature. And indeed. The fan that is supposed to blow the vapor into the room is very quiet. But the bubbling of the water that is let through from the tank to the water basin makes quite a bit of noise at night. Now it is true that if the room has the right humidity, the device switches off nicely and you are not bothered by the bubbling. But then another phenomenon occurs that you have to take into account. Suppose the device is set to a humidity of 45%, then it switches off when the value is reached. But as soon as the humidity is even slightly below 45%, the device switches on again. This means that the fan switches on and off continuously at the value reached. Now the fan does not make that much noise, but you have to take it into account in a bedroom. Then there's the bright blue light. The display on the front is still not that bad. But the lamp under the water bowl that ensures that you can read the water level gives a lot of light. Your bedroom is suddenly a lot brighter at night. You cannot turn this off. The Dutch manual is not complete. If you can read some English, then I recommend reading the English manual. You get a lot more useful information from that and it also includes, for example, a fault list. They have not included it in the Dutch manual for some reason. The fact that the device can be placed in a manual (manual) mode and automatic mode is also not mentioned in the Dutch manual. This is important to know when you are going to set up the device. The hygrometer deviates up to 6% from separate hygrometers that I have in the same room. I put 2 separate hygrometers in the room. These both indicated 51% while the device indicated 45%. You have to take that into account when setting it up.

Finally, a few things that are on the coolblue site (and in my opinion are not correct). The speed is not infinitely adjustable, but there are 3 positions. The humidity can be set from 45% to 75%. Not 90% as stated here on the site. If you put it in manual mode, the device will continue to run until you turn it off yourself. So in that respect 90% is feasible. But you can't set the device to 90% The display is NOT dimmable. And neither does the lamp under the water reservoir.

Still, there are a few things that need to get off my mind. But this only applies if you are going to use this device in a bedroom. In the living room you will not be bothered by this so much.

After 1 week of use, super happy with the purchase. Before the purchase, we always woke up with a dry mouth and crusty nose. After 2 days we were no longer bothered by it.

The device is very easy to use and is self explanatory. It is really a plus that the filter itself can be cleaned. That way you don't have to buy disposable filters, which saves some money, but is also better for the environment. What is also useful is the aroma atomizer that is integrated in the device. It is important that you use the clean air optima essential oils for this, as other oils can damage the device! This is not a clean air optima sales ploy to sell their oils. Other essential oils can damage the device after the first few drops. Since the price of their own oils is also no higher than the average price, this indicates that it really serves to protect the device (warranty expires if you use other oils and the device breaks).

It is a good device, only something strange happened the first night. Had the device set to a humidity of 55%. When it reaches the humidity level, the device normally shuts down by itself. Unfortunately that didn't happen, resulting in a humidity of 90% and the smoke detectors going off in the bedroom (we weren't in the bedroom ourselves). However, now the device turns off by itself. So no idea what could be the cause of that.

For humidification, it is an ideal device and certainly worth its money. If you want a versatile aroma atomizer, it is better to buy a separate atomizer if you want to use different oils yourself. It doesn't matter that you can only use clean air optima oil (it does have a more limited range of scents), then this device can serve you perfectly for that.
