TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro 3-pack

Since the beginning of the COVID time I started homeworking and this is still going on. I have set up an office in one of the bedrooms on the first floor here. The telenet signal was not really optimal on the first floor, not even with a repeater. After - much too - long hesitation I decided to go for a TP link Mesh Wifi XE75 (3 units) The initial installation was very simple. The first unit I installed is connected to my Telenet router with a network cable. The 2 others are installed at a distance of 6 to 8 meters from the main unit communication between the different units is wireless. The Wifi 6E gives a remarkable improvement here on the first floor, where I used to have disconnects with my PCs every now and then, the connection is now noticeably more stable and noticeably faster. In its default setup, communication between the various units takes place via the 6 Ghz network and there is 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz for the clients. I did have some trouble connecting all peripherals such as an LG air conditioner, the DC/AC inverter of the solar panels, IP cameras, doorbell, and the like to the "internal" Deco network. I have already temporarily had to let the Deco function in 2.4 Ghz only. (instead of 2.4 Ghz & 5 Ghz mixed mode) The IP camera and the doorbell also require TCP port forwarding to be able to view them via the WAN. Google is your best friend for these tasks, especially when it comes to updating the WIFI “in” the inverter of the solar panels. As soon as all peripherals were defined in the “internal” Deco network, I was able to switch back to mixed mode 2.4 Ghz & 5 Ghz for the clients and thus 6 Ghz for the intra unit communication. (the 6 Ghz intra unit communication could be left on all the time) Now that all peripherals have been swapped to the “internal” Deco Mesh network, I have decided to switch off the WIFI of the telenet router itself. The Deco app is user-friendly, where the Web interface is less, but you don't actually need it. When I look at it now I wonder why I didn't go for this Mesh solution earlier. So I have kept the proposed standard option as a WiFi router, so you then have an outer (telenet) and an inner (Deco) network. After installation, you can also have the Deco units function as Access Points. Connecting existing peripherals would then have been much easier because you still connect with the network SSID of telenet. This option may be preferable for those who want to have everything ready in 15 minutes, but you don't have all the benefits of an internal Mesh network.
