Description

An earlier review stated that this device does not work with a T-Mobile subscription. That is not correct. This device also works satisfactorily (for me at least) with T-Mobile. If it doesn't work the first time, set the APN to startsites.t-mobile instead of the default value "internet".

The Nighthawk M5 is highly recommended, super fast and intelligent functions. For example, data off-loading is super useful. If you connect the M5 with a UTP cable to a router/modem/switch, it uses the cable for internet. If the connection is lost, the M5 seamlessly switches to the mobile connection. (This also works with other WiFi networks!). Handy for traveling and on vacation. Also handy that the device can turn itself off when no clients are connected to it. The speed is (very) good, WiFi speed is comparable in speed as at home with UniFi AP Pros.

An almost perfect but pricey device.

My first experience was downright bad. Afterwards this was because I had placed a standard SIM (with telephony) from Budget Mobiel in the M5. Even streaming music was jerky and jerky. Searched the internet for a data SIM. The T-mobile subscription best suits my goals and budget. And it works perfectly: 5G in Amsterdam New West: upload approx. 60Mb/s, download approx.160Mb/s. So also good to use instead of fiber optic for your home network. The only question is how long this will remain so if several users join the G5 network. For testing purposes, I connected my PC to the M5 router via the USB port for a month. The device works perfectly. A small downside: the ping is on the long side, which makes the internet feel a bit less responsive. Not sure if it's the router or the provider. A serious drawback: the device is very pricey.
