Which thermostat do you need for floor heating?
Central thermostat
Do you set the floor heating with 1 thermostat right now? You can replace it by a smart thermostat. It controls the temperature in the entire house. Which thermostat you need depends on how your heating is controlled. Choose a Google Nest with an electric heat pump, for example. Tado works together with almost all boilers.
Thermostat per room
Do you currently control the floor heating temperature with a thermostat in multiple rooms? You can replace all thermostats with a smart thermostat. The Tado Multi-Zone expansion, for example. If you only replace a few thermostats, you'll still have to control the other rooms manually. You can save more energy when every room has a smart thermostat.
Floor heating and radiators
Do you have floor heating in some rooms and radiators in other rooms? You need smart radiator knobs for the radiators and a central thermostat for the floor heating. You have 2 connection options for the central thermostat:
- You can connect the thermostat directly to your heating system. This way, you can control the temperature in the rooms the radiators are in. When the radiator turns on there, the floor heating also turns on.
- You can connect the thermostat to a zone valve. This allows you to control the temperature separately in all rooms. The floor heating only switches on when the thermostat requires heat.
