What's Windows 11?
What does Windows 11 look like?
The new look of Windows 11 stands out right away. The screen looks more calm thanks to the semi-transparent windows and the upgraded symbols. Windows 11 has rounded corners that give it a modern look. Something else that stands out is that the iconic start menu no longer appears in the bottom left corner of your screen. The window opens in the middle of the screen. Don't like this change? You can easily change the setting back via Settings and then Personalize.
What are the most important innovations?
In addition to the new look, Windows 11 also features these 5 important innovations:
- You can download Windows apps, but also Android apps via the Amazon App Store.
- It has more options for gamers, like a wider range of games and better image quality.
- There's a new screen for all widgets. You can also find extra additions here, such as touch and voice controls.
- Microsoft Teams is included on Windows 11 by default, for all your digital conversations and collaborations.
- You can change more and use themes that suit you.
How do you download Windows 11?
Windows 11 launched on 5 October 2021. For both laptops and PCs, it differs per brand and model when the new version becomes available. Your PC or laptop will automatically indicate when Windows 11 is available in Windows Update. We don't recommend installing beta versions, because the operating system isn't stable enough yet. The risk of unexpected problems is big.
What are the system requirements?
Microsoft will launch a PC Health Check app later, which allows you to check if your current PC or laptop is suitable for Windows 11. The most important system requirements for your Windows 10 model are:
- Processor: 1GHz or faster, 2 cores, and a 64-bit processor or SoC.
- RAM: at least 4GB.
- Storage: at least 64GB.
- Video card: DirectX 12 or later.
- Screen: at least 720 pixels on a screen of at least 9 inches.
- Connection: a Microsoft account and internet connection.

Windows 11 Home vs Windows 11 Pro
At the moment, there are 2 available Windows 11 versions: Home and Pro. Windows 11 Home is the standard version for home use. Pro stands for Professional and it has more business functions.
