About 1800 a certain Allessandro Volta invented the electric battery. In the 217 years that seem to have flown by since then, those poor Apple engineers have barely had time to refine this invention. That's why the copy that is in every iPhone does not last as quickly as you would expect.
To get the necessary electricity into the battery, this little thing is very handy. You plug one end of the wire into the wall, the other end into your phone. So very easy to use! You can also put it in your computer and thus get all kinds of data from your phone into your computer or vice versa. In short: a wonderful thing! It's also nice to notice how Apple manages to cost €22 in one and a half euros of material.
The design may also be there; I have rarely known a cable to be so beautiful white.
