Not suitable for 'more complex' gardens with ponds and stepp

  • Far too clumsy

After an entire evening of querying ChatGPT/Gemini, we settled on this Ecovacs goat, so we ordered it from Coolblue. It was delivered quickly. It was a large box, and the robot was accordingly large and bulky. First, I assembled the accompanying RTK GPS. My wife said, "What the hell is that monstrosity?" Just put it in a corner. But that's not the point; it needs 2m of free space around it. Everything connected and turned on. First, it starts upgrading the firmware, which is great. Then it's off to work. It scans the edges itself, but stays quite far away. He saw the stepping stone path (with grass between them and next to it) as an obstacle and wouldn't go over it :-(. Then at the pond: I was worried; sometimes he even went over the pond edge with a wheel, very scary.

All in all, he leaves a considerable area untouched (read: unmown), and we still have to steer it ourselves.

Unfortunately, this mower wasn't suitable for our small but apparently somewhat more complex garden. I returned it to Coolblue without any problems and ordered a cordless Makita push mower with mulching function; what a relief: my lawn was mowed in 5 minutes.
