The MSI Pulse is the heavier class of gaming laptops, with which you can smoothly play all games, including heavy games. Think for example of Flight Simulator, No Man's Sky and Elden Ring. The model I tested has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 video card with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and 16 gigabytes of DDR5 RAM memory. With this laptop I tested the limits of Flight Simulator and No Man's Sky, among others, thanks in part to the video card and the 240Hz WQXGA screen. Video card suitable for medium-heavy games The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 video card had no trouble running heavy games. I connected my PlayStation controller, opened Microsoft Simulator and everything ran very smoothly. Even in QHD (1,440p) I did not experience any stuttering in the image. All textures and graphics came out sharply, making it seem like I was really flying over certain cities. For convenience, I chose Mount Everest, New York City and Tenerife, among others, to test different environments. In no case did the laptop have trouble maintaining a constant frame rate. In addition to Flight Simulator, I also played No Man's Sky at 1,440p with all settings on high to ultra. Again, the laptop had no trouble running everything smoothly. Only when I made a lot of abrupt movements, there was a small drop in frames of up to 5 fps. The RTX 4070 variant is therefore suitable for all games at 1,080p or 1,440p.
Powerful processor and RAM combination The MSI Pulse laptops have a special Intel Core Ultra processor with an AI NPU core. Thanks to this NPU, I had access to a small AI addition, which I tried in Adobe Premiere Pro. When I edited a small video, AI helped find unclean frames. In addition, the video was finished rendering within 2 minutes, which I found very fast. That is useful if you like to edit your own gameplay videos in addition to gaming.
Sleek gaming design with fast fans The design has an advantage and a disadvantage. The advantage is the sturdy metal and plastic design in combination with the RGB keyboard lighting. This matches nicely with each other and the WASD buttons are transparent for an extra gaming effect. The weight is a disadvantage. The laptop feels very heavy and at 2.6 kilograms is quite heavy in a backpack. The biggest advantage I find is the shortcut for the fans. I turned on this boost while playing Hogwarts Legacy and the laptop stayed well cooled.
