Description

The Sage the Tea Maker is the ideal machine for the fanatical tea drinker's countertop. This tea maker ensures that your cup of tea is always made at the right temperature and is ready when you get up in the morning. You put fresh tea in the sieve and choose one of 5 programs. There's a program for green or black tea, for example. The tea maker adjusts the temperature of the water with this, so the tea leaves don't burn. You also decide how strong the tea has to be yourself. You can set the timer the night before, so you can enjoy a fresh cup of tea for breakfast. You can put 1.5L in the teapot, you can make about 6 cups of tea with this.

If you do it, better good: choose the 1,5L instead of the 1L

  • The Compact (1L) does not have a delayed start
Note: unlike its bigger brother (1.5L), the Compact (1L) does not have a timer function (delayed start)! And if you want to brew the tea in the device, you can brew up to 3 cups. For only boiling water the limit is 1 L, but for making tea this is 750 ml. Because the minimum level is 500 ml, there is little variation in the amount possible with the Compact. Due to the lack of the timer function and the limitations regarding water level, I decided to exchange it for the 1.5L variant.

Sage the teammaker is a beautiful product that is easy to use but which is very unfriendly to the timed start function. This goes in 1 minute increments, so setting the tea maker to start at 07:30 (fortunately remembered after that) requires 450 clicks on the '1 minute later' button. Unfortunately after 2 weeks the bottom plate starts to discolour despite careful cleaning according to the instructions of the booklet. This doesn't look pretty, but luckily it doesn't affect the tea.

I have been using the Sage Tea Maker for 2 weeks now and I am actually very enthusiastic, especially about the timer function that is on the device. This boils the water at the set time and then the tea is made at the intensity you set and when it is ready it makes a beep. This device actually reminds me to drink something in time and to grab a nice cup of tea. The manual states that you should use one scoop of tea per 250ml of water. Now I personally don't like strong tea at all, so I use 1 scoop per 500ml. But that can be determined completely per person as desired. The only drawback is actually cleaning the basket. But to be honest... with my manual tea strainers this is always a thing and I always rinse them under the tap. So that makes no difference. What I am still curious about is whether the pitcher has discolored over time due to the tea you put in it. The time is now too short to assess this.
