Excellent for office work and video editing

  • Build quality, nice design, thin bezel
  • Sturdy, compact and adaptable base
  • LG image quality
  • Accessibility connections

A beautiful widescreen display (21 - 9). Definitely recommended, but beware, once you just do this, you don't want to go back!
The build quality from Dell is ok. Thanks to its beautiful design with a thin edge and the sturdy, compact and rotatable base, it also looks good on your desk. No protruding parts of the foot as with other brands. However, you cannot swivel the screen (control the height left and right). I found a rare complaint about this on the internet, but you can move the screws on the stand itself (disconnected from the screen) slightly if necessary, so that it still stands up nicely. This was not necessary for me.
The anti-reflective IPS screen itself is from LG and therefore of high quality. You can switch on the comfort function in the menu (less blue light). The refresh rate of 60 hz is ok, especially for office work and for gaming now and then. More is not really necessary (except for extreme gaming). You would rather drive a comfortable BMW 3 or 5 to work instead of a Porsche whose power you can't use anyway. All those numbers are often marketing tricks.
The 2 built-in speakers do their job well, but to have excellent quality it is better to buy an external set. On the internet I read about a zoom that you could sometimes hear in a quiet environment, when no sound was playing. This has been resolved by setting the format of the speakers to the best quality (24 bit and 48000 kHz) in the sound settings (Windows > settings > sound > device settings > extra device settings).
Furthermore, all cables are included, such as USB-C, HDMI and DisplayPort. I myself use the USB-C cable that also charges my MBPro 13 inch at the same time. However, the connections on the back of the screen are directed downwards, which sometimes makes plugging in a bit more difficult. But in the end you only have to do that once.
Dell software is only available for Windows, not the Mac. But there are dozens of apps available for free or for a small fee in the App Store to control your screen layout yourself.

UltraWide screen = good choice

  • Color rendering (graphics applications)
  • Screen resolution, size
  • Not too curved (because of annoying reflections)
  • Light reflection of light

After almost 13 years of using 2 graphic Lacie side-by-side screens, they needed to be replaced. So looking for a quality monitor for both laptop and desktop. Weigh and weigh. Decisive for me were the true 10-bit support and the resolution of 3440 x 1440. This is slightly larger than my previous (2 x) 1600 x 1200 in a slightly smaller 'package'. Ideally, 3840 would have been wide as this results in 2 x Full HD width. After comparison, this monitor was my preference over the fake 10-bit LG screens, the 8-bit and Samsung screens that are more focused on 'games'. I also preferred to stay under € 1,000, so that the Asus and Acer screens, for example, were viewed more critically and I eventually went for the Dell.

The monitor is only supported by my laptop at 30Hz (although I think the slightly dated cable could also be involved), but this is actually sufficient for that application. The desktop with professional Quadro card obviously has no problem with this resolution and can easily handle the maximum 60Hz of the screen.

A bliss is Dell's software. You never miss the classic side-by-side way of working (maximizing to a screen) and you get the option to send the windows to a part of the screen via a hotkey.

Even better than a side-by-side setup is that you are also more productive quickly because you can also place windows through the middle without being bothered by the screen frames of a side-by-side setup. Something that you will quickly find annoying about a dual screen setup after being used to this. And if you have software that should be able to go a little wider, at least it can be done on this screen. You can easily provide 2,000 pixels wide for your photoshop or multitrack audio editor and have some space left for a Word or Outlook next to it. The height is also more than a Full HD screen, and those 360 pixels extra are very useful. I have always found that a Full HD at 1080 is too low for many applications.

Top is also the built-in KVM switch. I connected it with a USB-3 upstream cable as supplied, while the laptop is equipped with a regular 'old' USB upstream cable. No problem, they are compatible. Albeit at USB-2 speed. But in the end you're just going to attach a keyboard and mouse at most. By switching PCs (can also be done via a hotkey thanks to the Display Manager) you can therefore hang both screen, mouse and keyboard on the other PC. Plus is the 3.5 jack audio output on the screen. You send the audio digitally to the screen via HDMI / Display Port. In my case, I like to hang my external speakers with a small bass box there. That said: the built-in sound is good and clear, but obviously lacks a lot of bass.

The only downside so far is that you still have some vague light reflection in the screen, so you look 'into' the screen and get a halo. Specific to curved screens, but my Lacies were a lot better at this. It is recommended to wear a black t-shirt instead of a white one.

I can't comment on the durability of this screen yet, of course, but Dell gives a 3-year warranty. The screen, however, seems solidly built to me - it's not a light-hearted plastic case so I suspect that the hardware used internally is old school quality and is more than a few cheap chips that solve as much as possible via a few digital circuits that cause more misery. give something else. My Lacie screens also cost a bit, but if I divide that amount by the number of years they have lasted (and they are really not broken yet) they have been relatively cheap.

So in doubt between an UltraWide or a Dual Screen? Give me the UltraWide from now on. 2 quality screens side by side might even cost a little more than this one screen - and for me it's much more practical and a revelation.

My wife is absolutely happy with this monitor

  • stunning image
  • Colors are beatiful
  • Wife is over the moon
  • I'm not actually using the monitor

My wife and I have been working from home since March. I've got a Dell 25 inch monitor which was perfect. She was working on her laptop. She told me the past few weeks that her neck and upper back are painful. Might be related to working on her laptop 8hrs per day. I told her I'll get her a new monitor. She was hesitant, did not think that was necessary. I started looking on the internet and actually found this amazing 34 inch dream monitor as a second chance at Coolblue. I was over the moon. This is my perfect monitor. Though long and hard and ordered the monitor. Monitor was delivered next day. I was still in a meeting for two hours. I came downstairs looking forward to unpacking the monitor. I found my wife using the 34 inch monitor. She was over the moon. She uses excel sheets the whole day and could see the whole excel sheet in one go. She was absolutely over the moon. I was devastated. I told her "Congratulations on your new monitor". I died on the inside. I cherish her smile, our love will last longer than this Dell. In the end, happy wife is happy life.

Other remarks: My wife is very not technical and set up the monitor in less than 15 minutes, she didn't need the manual.
I'm considering saving up for another 34 inch monitor. This time I will let her know it's meant for my study.

short summary; Buy your wife a dope monitor. Best investment for a good relationship.
