I bought this slow juicer because my husband wanted to take smoothies to work. I first wanted to buy a regular, independent slow juicer, because I didn't know how long I was going to make the juices and I didn't want to spend too much money. I've read some reviews of independent slow juicers but didn't think this one was good enough. Since I have a KitchenAid, I looked for the Slowjuicer of the KitchenAid, slightly more expensive but better quality. I'm very happy with my KitchenAid myself, so I didn't think it would be any different from the slow juicer. After ordering on CoolBlue, I received the slowjuicer at my door the next morning. The slowjuicer is relatively large, almost the same size as the KitchenAid itself and looks rather bulky on the kitchenaid (it takes up a large part of my kitchen island anyway). It takes about ten minutes to figure out how it all works. I tried several times to light it, to no avail. I went through every step but it didn't work. Apparently the lid was not in the lock properly (with me you really have to put a lot of force behind it (with wet hands it doesn't even work, my husband often has to help me)). One downside that I immediately noticed was that my kitchenaid mixer also spins when I want to use the slow juicer, which results in a lot of noise. If everything is right, the slow juicer separates the pulp well from the juice (you have several 'nets' that you can install where you can choose from a lot or little pulp. There is also a net for making sauce). What annoys me the most is that a lot of dirt/pulp remains in the machine, so you (especially with celery/spinach/red fruits,...) often have to stop to clean the machine in between to be able to continue properly. The cleaning afterwards is also a reasonable job, although everything can go in the dishwasher, I always do this by hand. There are a lot of parts that would make your dishwasher almost full, plus you can never remove the small membranes from the net with the dishwasher. Kitchenaid gives you a special toothbrush to clean the neatly, this is certainly used. Compared to my kitchenaid itself, I like this product a little less. My expectations were high to be honest because KitchenAid is a good brand and I paid a few bucks for it, unfortunately I'm disappointed.
