The lens would be perfect if it were better balanced.

  • very fast autofocus
  • solidly built
  • too heavy turn on zoom ring

It's a perfect focal length for sports etc and I would buy the lens immediately. Only... because the zoom ring is so close to the camera and you need quite a bit of force to turn it, you throw the whole thing off balance, making it much harder to keep your subject in frame. With some practice this will improve. In low light the lens had a harder time focusing and sometimes kept searching on my Z5. So I'll stick with my Tamron 70-200SP and the 24-70SP on my D750 because it makes for a more manageable whole.
