How do you put a 360-degree video on YouTube?
What do you need?
- 360 degree camera.
- 360 degrees video.
- Youtube account.
- Computer.
Step 1: make a 360 degree video
To put a video on YouTube, you naturally need a video. Make a video with your 360 degree camera at 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, or 60 frames per second. With a different frame rate than mentioned above, the video does not work. Then save the video in a resolution of at least 7168x3584.
Step 2: add the metadata to your video
Before you upload the files to YouTube, you must provide the video file with metadata. The metadata consists of information data about the video file. You can, among other things, add information about the maker, location and date of the video. If you really want to watch the video in 360 degrees, you need another piece of metadata. We explain step by step how to add this information:
Download the app * 360 Video Metadata * for your Mac or Windows computer. Extract the zip file and open the 360 Video Metadata app on your computer or laptop. Note: if you are using a Mac computer, you must right click on the app and then select the * Open * option. When the app is open, select the correct video file. Select the * Spherical * check box and click on * Save as *. Leave the * 3D Top bottom * check box blank. After you press * Save as *, you give the new file that will be created a name. Save the file. A new file is automatically created in the same location as the original file.
Step 3: upload the video to YouTube
If you do not yet have an account on YouTube, first create it by registering yourself. After registering, log in to your YouTube account and select the upload option. Search for the video file in your documents to upload it. It is now a matter of waiting until the 360 degree effect has been processed. This can take up to an hour.
