Where do you place your freestanding cooktop?
Safety first
The information in this article should be taken as general guidelines only. If you want to be sure that your cooking top can be installed the way you want it, always check the manufacturer's manual. It'll tell you exactly where you can and can't place the cooktop.
On top of a fridge or dishwasher
Check the manual of the fridge or dishwasher to find out whether it can withstand a temperature of 85℃. If that's the case, you can place the cooktop nearby. If the fridge or dishwasher can't withstand high temperatures, you have to put a piece of countertop or a heat-resistant plate between the cooktop and the appliance you want to place it on.
Under a window or in the corner
You can easily place a cooktop under a window or in the corner of your kitchen. Make sure there's at least 10cm between your cooktop and flammable items like curtains and wooden cupboards.
Nowadays, you can also place a gas cooktop near the window. All gas cooktops made since 2010 have flame protection. That means the gas supply automatically shuts off when you turn off the flames. Do you still have an old gas gas cooktop without flame protection? Don't place this appliance near a window, because it might cause a gas explosion.
