How much energy do you save with a new fridge?
Savings per year from old to new energy label
New: A | New: B | New: C | New: D | |
---|---|---|---|---|
A+ | € 40 | € 34 | € 24 | € 21 |
A++ | € 26 | € 20 | € 10 | € 7 |
A+++ | € 12 | € 6 | - € 4 | - € 8 |
Calculation energy savings
In the table above, we use € 0.30 per kWh as the energy price for the calculations. Let's say you currently have an A+ fridge in your kitchen. When you choose a fridge with an A energy label, you can save 132kWh on average. Multiply this by € 0.30, and you'll save about € 40 per year.
Replace fridge
Depending on the model, the materials, and the techniques, a fridge lasts about 15 years. The older the model is, the more energy it uses. That's because of little maintenance or problems that occur during its lifespan. Is your fridge almost 15 years old? You can save a lot of costs on your energy bill if you buy a new model.
New energy label
Since March 2021, fridges have a new energy label. The energy label now goes from A to G, instead of A+++ to F. This provides better insight into the energy-efficiency of a model. Currently, an A energy label is the most energy-efficient for fridges.
