How do you use the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) with the iPad?
Apple Pencil (2nd generation)
The 2nd generation Apple Pencil is suitable for the following models:
- iPad Pro 11 inches (2022/2021/2020/2018)
- iPad Pro 12.9 inches (2022/2021/2020/2018)
- iPad Air (2022/2020)
- iPad Mini 6
Note: the Apple Pencil 2 isn't suitable for the iPad (2018/2019/2020/2021/2022), iPad Mini (2/3/4/5), and iPad Pro (2017) .
How do you connect your Apple Pencil 2?
Connecting the Apple Pencil 2 to your iPad is easy. Is the Apple Pencil paired? Your stylus will remain paired until you restart your iPad, until you turn on Airplane mode, or until you pair it with another iPad. You can connect the Apple Pencil again like described below.
- Place the Apple Pencil on the magnetic connector on the side of the your iPad.
- A screen will now open asking if you want to connect the Apple Pencil to the iPad. Click 'Connect'. The stylus is now connected.
How do you charge your Apple Pencil 2?
Is your Pencil empty? This is how you can recharge it:
- Go to 'Settings' and enable Bluetooth.
- You can place the Apple Pencil on the magnetic connector in the middle of the right side of your iPad. The Apple Pencil is now charging.
If your iPad is in a cover, it's harder to click the Apple Pencil onto the magnetic side. If that's the case, you can take your iPad out of its cover.
How do you use your Apple Pencil 2 in Notes?
There are more and more apps that support the use of Apple Pencil. Apps that are standard on iPad and that support Apple Pencil are Mail and Notes. We'll explain how to draw with Apple Pencil in the Notes app.
- Open Notes.
- Tap the square with a pencil in it.
- Then, tap the icon with the pencil point. Can't you see the icon? First update the 'Notes app'.
- To sketch, tap '+' and 'Add a sketch'.
