How do you solve the smell in your dryer?
Solve a smell in your dryer
Does your dryer smell strange? You want to get rid of it, of course. There are some possible causes for a smelly dryer. These are the 3 tips to get rid of the smell:
- Tip 1. Use your new dryer a few times
- Tip 2. Empty the lint trap
- Tip 3. Clean the condenser
Tip 1: use your new dryer a few times
Do you have a new dryer and does it smell like plastic? That's because the plastic parts heat up and give off a plastic smell. This usually disappears after your run the dryer a few times.
Tip 2: empty the lint trap
If you don't empty the lint trap, you might sense a burning smell. That's not a nice smell, and it's also dangerous. Remove the lint trap from the door opening after every dryer cycle. Remove large dust particles and clean the trap with a damp cloth. Use a vacuum one per moth to clean the trap and the compartment where you put the trap.
Tip 3: clean the condenser
The condenser can collect a lot of dirt after a while. If you don't clean it, it'll start to smell. Clean the condenser every 2 or 3 months. With a condenser dryer, you can remove the condenser reservoir. Rinse it under the faucet. Go over the compartment of the condenser with a damp cloth. With a heat pump dryer, the condenser is fixed in place. In that case, you only clean the front with a vacuum brush.
