How do you solve charging problems with your iPhone?

If you iPhone doesn't charge, that might be cue to a dirty charging port or broken charger. In this article, you'll find 5 tips with which you can solve charging problems with your iPhone.

With the tips below, you can solve many charging problems with your iPhone. We recommend that you check your Lightning port first.

Tip 1: clean the Lightning port

When there's too much dirt in the Lightning port of your iPhone, the device won't charge anymore. Carefully scrape away the dirt from the port with a wooden skewer or toothpick. Make sure you don't use any metal objects like paperclips or needles. Via the page below, you can read more about cleaning the Lightning port.

Tip 2: check your charger and cable

Check the charger and Lightning cable. Is the cable torn, or doesn't your iPhone charge if the charger is in the socket? This might be the problem. Try a different charger and Lightning cable to charge your iPhone to be sure. We have a large assortment of original Apple accessories or Apple certified accessories.

Tip 3: restart your iPhone

It can help to restart your iPhone. That works like this:

  1. Press and hold one of the volume buttons and the on/off button until 'Turn off' appears on the screen.
  2. Swipe the slider and wait for 30 seconds until your iPhone is turned off.
  3. Now turn your iPhone back on by pressing and holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Is the Lightning port clean and your charger and cable aren't broken? In that case, your socket might be broken. Connect your iPhone to a different socket. Does your device charge there? There's something wrong with the socket, so your iPhone won't charge. Get help from an expert to fix problems with your socket.

Tip 5: check if your iPhone charges fast

Apple iPhone models from the iPhone 8 onwards are suitable for fast charging. Older models don't charge fast. For fast charging, you also need a USB-C Power Delivery charger. Don't you have that? That's why your iPhone doesn't fast charge. If your iPhone still doesn't charge with the tips above, your iPhone might be broken. Make an appointment and visit us in one of our stores, or send the device to us. We'll look at your iPhone and repair it if needed.
