Solve too little coffee
Sometimes, the coffee doesn't flow properly anymore. The machine only makes half cups, or it only produces drops. In this article, we'll give you 5 tips to solve the problem.
- Tip 1: pierce the coffee outlet
- Tip 2: install the water filter again
- Tip 3: tap some hot water
- Tip 4: clean the brew group
- Tip 5: descale your coffee machine
Tip 1: pierce the coffee outlet
Coffee residue often builds up in the coffee spout. As a result, the coffee doesn't flow properly. The coffee spout has 2 holes that the coffee should pour out of. Grab a needle or wooden skewer and pierce the holes, so the coffee residue comes out.
Tip 2: install the water filter again
If the water filter hasn't been properly prepared, the water supply gets blocked. It's important that you force all the air from the water filter before you put it back in the water tank. You do this by holding the filter in a tub of water for 10 seconds. In the meantime, you carefully squeeze the filter, so the air bubbles escape. After, you reinsert the water filter in the water tank.
Tip 3: Tap hot water
Sometimes there's air stuck in the water pipes, so the coffee doesn't flow properly. Tap some hot water to remove the air from the pipes. Pour a couple of cups of hot water and see if this solves the problem.
Tip 4: clean the brew group
If you have a dirty brew group, your coffee machine doesn't work like it should. Take the brew group out of the machine every week and clean it thoroughly under the faucet. Krups and JURA coffee machines don't have a removeable brew group, but you can clean these every month with a special cleaning program. We're happy to help you with our video instruction.
Tip 5: descale your coffee machine
If you haven't descaled your coffee machine in a while, if if you postponed the descaling session a couple of times, it's now time to descale the machine. The pipes of your machine might be blocked by limescale buildup, so the coffee can't flow freely. Take a look at these useful video instructions to see how to descale your machine.
