First impression of the Canon EOS R6
When I hold the camera for the first time, I don't feel like I'm holding a mirrorless camera. That's because of the relatively large size and ergonomic design. Mirrorless camera aren't always more compact than SLR cameras. This makes the camera nice to hold and it feels sturdy. I do notice that the camera is a lot lighter. Especially with the RF 50mm f/1.8 lens, which I'm testing.
Fast photography with electronic shutter
The EOS R6 has a fast DIGIC X processor. This allows me to take photos at 20 fps with the electronic shutter. This makes the camera ideal for sports and activity photography. I do have to get used to the silent shutter. It's almost as if I'm not taking photos. But it's useful if you take photo's at an event where you don't want distracting sounds. With the mechanical shutter, I can take photos at 12 fps and I do hear a shutter sound.
High image quality
Thanks to the large full-frame sensor with 20 megapixels, I can take sharp photos with the camera in a dark room. I notice that I see little noise on my photos. Thanks to the built-in image stabilization I can take photos and record videos by hand better. It works together with the image stabilization of the RF lenses and compensates up to 8 stops. The videos are also high quality. I can record in 4K at 60 fps. That provides smooth videos.
Accurate and fast autofocus
While I take photos, I don't have to worry about the sharpness of my subject. The autofocus is very accurate and it recognizes faces and eyes right away. As soon as someone walks into frame, the camera focuses on them. This makes it easy to take photos of people on the street, for example. That's also nice for portrait photography. In addition to people, the camera also recognizes animals. You can set your preference to humans or animals in the menu.
Many control buttons
I can adjust the camera with the 3 control buttons. The camera has 3 dials for the aperture, the shutter speed, and the ISO value. This way, I can easily adjust the settings to match each other. I can choose which settings I bind to which button. this way, I can adjust the controls to my preference. The camera sadly doesn't have a screen at the top that shows my preferences. If you're used to that, you'll miss it on the R6.

These good specifications and the full-frame sensor mean that the camera isn't as compact. In terms of size, the R6 is similar to an SLR camera.
