Expert review of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II

With the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, Bose adds a new flagship to the QuietComfort series. These new earbuds have high-end noise canceling and are much smaller than the original QuietComfort Earbuds. This ensures high carrying comfort. Read this review to find out what else I think of the earbuds.

  • The high-end noise canceling greatly reduces ambient noise.
  • With the Bose Music app, you can personalize the sound reproduction via an equalizer.
  • The music automatically pauses when you take an earbud out of your ear.
  • These earbuds are water-resistant and not waterproof, so you can't clean them under the faucet.

First impression of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II

First impression of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II

While unpacking the earbuds, the design stands out positively right away. These earbuds are much smaller than the original QuietComfort Earbuds, which ensures higher wearing comfort. There are also different earbud sizes, stability bands, and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable in the packaging.

More compact design and high wearing comfort

Compact design

Because the earbuds are smaller, they're much more comfortable in my ears. They don't stick out much and the weight is distributed better, so they stay firmly in place. I take them to the gym and they stay in place while doing the heaviest exercises.

High-end noise canceling

High-end noise canceling

The noise canceling of these earbuds are high-level. While listening to music, I barely hear anything from my surroundings. In a crowded train compartment or at the office, I don't have to unnecessarily turn up the music and I can focus on the task at hand. The quality is comparable to high-end noise canceling headphones. On the bike, the noise canceling does catch quite a bit of wind, which I think is disappointing.

Adjustable sound

Earbuds on the table

With factory settings, the sound of Bose is what you're used to, clear and detailed. The bass is pretty powerful, but in my opinion can be more powerful. Fortunately, the Bose Music app has a built-in equalizer. It wasn't possible before to change the sound of your Bose earbuds or headphones, which changes now. This way, I can accentuate the bass a little more, so the kick in dance music sounds even more powerful.

Simple, but effective app

In the Bose Music app, I can adjust the noise canceling in addition to the sound, and I can choose the commands for the touch controls. The app is very simple which makes it great. Thanks to the sleek interface, it's very clear how you can adapt certain things and everything is explained well.

Conclusion

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are an improvement in all areas compared to its predecessor. The carrying comfort, the noise canceling, and the adaptable sound make these earbuds equal to headphones in the same price range. When you're looking for noise canceling earbuds, this model is a good choice. The earbuds do catch a lot of wind on the bike, which I think is disappointing.
