Everything on the Bose QuietComfort 45
Improved noise canceling
The 45 has active noise canceling, just like its predecessor the QuietComfort 35 II. This technology reduces ambient noise and white noise via an anti-noise. Microphones in the headphones measure the ambient noise, analyse it, and change it. The 45 has extra microphones, which are also placed on the exterior of the ear cup. Thanks to the placement of these microphones, they'll detect the noise sooner. If you want to hear the ambient noise, you can switch on 'Aware Mode'. With this mode, the volume will go down if the microphone detects noise.
Longer battery life
The QuietComfort 45 lasts 2 hours longer than the 35 II, which comes down to a battery life of 22 hours. Thanks to the switch from micro USB to USB-C, you can charge your headphones faster. It'll take 2 hours before your headphones are fully charged. After 15 minutes of charging, you can listen for 2.5 hours again. This is convenient if you're on the go a lot.
Comparable design
The design with the thick headband of the Bose QuietComfort 45 is comparable to that of the 35 II. The ear cups of the 45 are smooth, where the ones on the 35 II were folded. The headphones are a lot lighter thanks to the use of synthetic leather and glass-filled nylon. This is pleasant when you wear the headphones for a long time back to back. When you're not using the headphones, you can fold it and keep it in the included hard case. That way, you can easily put it away.
Clear conversations
The microphone has the beamforming technology. This technology filters the ambient noise and wind. Thanks to this, your voice is loud and clear during meetings and phone calls. This is useful when you want to have a conversation in a crowded area or outdoors.
Easy controls
You can control the QuietComfort 45 with physical buttons on the ear cups. Here, you can adjust the volume, skip songs, and pause the music. Besides the physical buttons, you can also control the headphones via the Bose Music App. In the app, you can adjust various settings like noise canceling or the stand-by timer. This last one allows you to save battery life when you're not using your headphones.
