Battery life Watch5 vs 5 Pro: 50 and 80-hour battery
Both watches have a longer battery life than the Samsung Watch4. The battery of the regular Watch5 lasts about 45 hours. The large battery of the Watch5 Pro even lasts 80 hours. That's twice as long as the battery of the Watch4. Thanks to fast charging, you can also fast charge your smartwatch. After half an hour of charging, your empty battery is charged for 45% again.
Wearing comfort
Watch5: smaller and lighter
The Galaxy Watch5 comes in a 40mm and a 44mm version. The 40mm version is meant for people with a smaller wrist, with a 15 to 17cm wrist circumference. For a larger wrist with a 17 to 19cm wrist circumference, the 44mm version is a better fit. The Watch5 is smaller than the Pro, and it's made of aluminum. This also makes the watch lighter, which is comfortable if you want to work out with it, for example.
Watch5 Pro: larger and heavier
The Galaxy Watch5 Pro is 46mm. This makes the Pro suitable for people with a medium to large wrist. Think about a wrist circumference of at least 17cm. Because of its size and titanium watch case, the Watch5 Pro is relatively heavy. You can still work out with it, but it's less comfortable than with the light Watch5. Thanks to the sturdy strap with pressure closure, the heavy Pro stays firmly around your wrist.
Design
Watch5: sporty appearance, many colors
The Samsung Watch5 has a sporty look. The aluminum watch case isn't much thicker than the strap, which makes the Watch5 a thinner watch. You can control the smartwatch with the buttons on the side, or via the bright AMOLED touchscreen. Thanks to the strong sapphire glass, you won't get scratches on the screen very easily. The Watch5 is available in black, silver, and rose gold.
Watch5 Pro: rugged appearance, classic colors
The Samsung Watch5 Pro is thicker and larger than the Watch5. It also has a thicker bezel around the watch case, which gives the Watch5 Pro a rugged look. The Watch5 Pro looks more like an analog watch. The watch case is made of titanium instead of aluminum, which is sturdier and looks luxurious. The Watch5 Pro also has 2 buttons and a sapphire glass AMOLED touchscreen. The available colors are a bit calmer, there's black and gray.
4G / LTE models
Both the Watch5 and Watch5 Pro are available in a 4G and LTE version. With the Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE, you can connect to the internet with a digital SIM card. Thanks to this, you stay up to date of your incoming calls and messages without needing your smartphone.
Note: you need an eSIM data plan to use the digital SIM card. Not all providers offer this. Make sure to check if your provider has this option.
Conclusion
If you're looking for a sporty and light smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch5 is suitable for you. Do you prefer a fancy appearance and larger watch case? Choose the Galaxy Watch5 Pro. With both Watch5 models, you can keep an eye on your notifications and measure your health.
