Everything on Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference
What's Apple's WWDC?
WWDC is the abbreviation of Worldwide Developers Conference. This annual event lasts a week and brings software developers together. On the first day of the conference, Apple always hosts a Keynote. During this presentation, the tech company announces the latest software updates. The updates usually aren't available right away, but will be rolled out later in the year. Sometimes, Apple also announces new hardware during their Keynote.
What was announced at WWDC24?
On 10 June 2024, the Keynote took place at WWDC 2024. Apple didn't announce any hardware during the conference, but they did announce new software updates. For example, all operating systems will be updated with OS 18 so you can enjoy the benefits of AI. At Apple, AI doesn't stand for artificial intelligence, but for Apple Intelligence. This feature makes Siri smarter, and everything you do will be easier.
Apple iPhone: iOS 18
With iOS 18, the appearance of your operating system gets a complete makeover. You can now place apps and widgets wherever you want and add colors. This way, you can give your home screen a personal touch. The Photos app will also get a new look. Thanks to AI, you can now sort photos and videos even smarter. In addition, you can customize the Control Center to your own preferences and enjoy new text effects when you send a message in Messages. On top of that, the email app is more organized in iOS 18. You can organize your email by categorizing them into purchases, personal emails, or news.
Apple iPad: iPadOS 18
Soon, you'll work even faster and more easily on iPad thanks to the useful Apple Intelligence in iPadOS 18. Let your documents be summarized and replace the sketches you made with the Apple Pencil with real illustrations. Thanks to the improved SharePlay, you can also control your iPad from a distance. This is useful if your grandma doesn't remember how to drag a photo into a specific folder on her iPad. The new Calculator app helps you with the most complex mathematical problems. Of course, you can also customize the apps and home screens on your iPad to match your own style.
Apple Mac: macOS Sequoia
The latest operating system for Apple Mac is called macOS Sequoia. The new software brings many innovations. Get the most out of your iPhone and Mac with iPhone Mirroring, for example. You can easily drag the screen of your iPhone onto the screen of your Mac, so you can copy and paste files faster. In addition, macOS Sequoia allows you to receive iOS notifications on your Mac. Want to quickly respond to a message? Use Emoji Tapbacks in Messages. Prefer to wait before sending? You can use Send Later and schedule a message for later. You can easily do this and much more with macOS Sequoia.
Apple Watch: watchOS 11
With watchOS 11, you can focus even more on your health thanks to AI. The new Vitals app will let you know if your health deviates too much from your average. You'll then receive a warning on your Apple Watch. Another new function is Training Load. It'll let you know if your training was too heavy or too light for you. Thanks to the newly added Safety Check, you can let a contact know that you're home safe after your run. You can also adjust your activity goals per day. Your widgets will adapt based on what you're doing. Are you traveling? The Translate app will automatically appear among your widgets.
