Have been using a Kamado Joe Classic at home for years and then it becomes difficult to settle for a piece of tin on holiday. Chose the Bastard because it is very complete and beautifully finished. This Bastard Small was very small when unpacked and for use at home I would certainly have opted for something larger (and I did), but for a BBQ that you want to be able to take with you in the trunk, this is a great size. Is neatly put together, including a good stainless steel grid, platesetter and deflector stone. I do miss the ash drawer, which makes interim cleaning a bit more difficult.

The grid diameter is so small that I have to use other skewers because my usual skewers are too long, at the same time you can keep it at the right temperature and there is enough space for a beer can chicken, pulled pork or a nice set of MOINK balls. You will have to halve a rack of ribs to fit it.

The charcoal consumption is nice and low, you can only use a little, and you can also cook your meat for several hours with this small amount of charcoal without having to refill.
