Everything on HP and sustainability
HP and sustainability
HP uses several ways to work on the sustainability of their products. They focus on 3 different areas:
- Climate action: leaving a smaller footprint, reducing deforestation, and producing sustainable products. For example, HP only uses sustainable fibers for all their paper, which reduces deforestation.
- Human rights: working on a culture of equality inside and outside of HP. HP also has a health program that's aimed towards the emotional and mental health of their employees.
- Digital equality: speeding up equal access to education, healthcare, and economic chances for those who don't have access to that via the Digital Equity Accelerator program, for example.
More sustainable packaging.
HP works on reducing the plastic packaging and other forms of packaging that are hard to recycle. Instead, HP uses more and more paper and cardboard packaging. HP also doesn't include a paper manual with some products anymore, but a QR code to a digital manual instead.
Recycled materials in HP products
HP uses recycled materials in many different products. Some HP bags are made from recycled plastic bottles, for example. HP also uses recycled plastic when making various HP laptops and printers, which otherwise end up in the sea. With the HP trade-in program, you can trade in your old products for a trade-in value. This means trading in is now more sustainable and affordable. HP uses the traded-in materials in a newer generation of products via the HP Planet Partners recycling program.
