Second Chance AEG VX82-1-2MG

After more than two days of looking at different vacuum cleaners, this AEG was the deciding factor because of the compact model, the HEPA filter and the minimal decibels. The latter is unbelievable, it seems like it's not on or not working properly while the suction power is perfect.
I became unsure after reading the negative reviews that I hereby debunk:
1. The snake would look "cheap" and quickly fold in half: absolutely not true. The hose is very flexible in use (handy for storage) and does not fold over. Contemporary "plastic" products such as this vacuum cleaner hose are of good quality, anything but cheap.
2. The vacuum cleaner would be "too manoeuvrable" and therefore "fly after you": nonsense, compared to my previous (read: very old and very heavy) vacuum cleaner, this AEG vacuum cleaner slides easily behind me. The fact that this vacuum cleaner has no castor wheels is no problem at all.
3. The cord wouldn't roll up easily: no problems with that, it took a while to find what to press, but with a light press on the lever (which you can lift the vacuum cleaner from) the cord slid in smoothly.
4. The bar would be very heavy: what is heavy? Lift with two fingers? No, but the bar is easy to lift with one hand for this relatively small woman, also above the head and that doesn't feel like a workout ;-)
In summary: a nice, quiet, compact and modern vacuum cleaner that is worth the money so don't be fooled by the negatives of others (and no: I don't have any shares in AEG).

What a super quiet vacuum cleaner! When turning on the device, I doubted whether it was turned on properly. And the suction power is just right!
The Smart function is a great invention. This works very well, for example with a transition from a wooden floor to a doormat.
Because the vacuum cleaner is easy to operate via the handle of the telescopic rod, it is not necessary to bend over.
The vacuum cleaner follows you very smoothly. The wheels under the brush make the vacuum cleaner very easy. The cord is 9 meters long. With this you can vacuum an average home in one go.
The so-called 3-in-1 attachment works very nicely when you want to vacuum up cracks in the sofa, or if you want to get to hard-to-reach places.
The only downside is the price is a bit on the high side.

When purchasing a new vacuum cleaner, I would prefer to try all vacuum cleaners in the store. Even before Corona, most sellers didn't think this was such a good idea and now I can't even see them in real life because of the Lock down. So I tend to stick with my old brand (Miele). The reviews are now even more important, so that's why I will write these as well as possible. While searching, I came up with a wish for a decent, quiet(er) vacuum cleaner, which is not too heavy. Too light is also not nice, because then you sometimes unintentionally lift the vacuum cleaner when turning and it ends up on its head. (I have a simple vacuum cleaner for the upper floor with this problem). However, I found the Miele that met my needs on the heavy side. That is unpleasant for vacuuming the stairs. So I came up with this AEG as an alternative and what a joy this device is! Unbelievable how much convenience the longer cord offers. The attachment which is multifunctional is really useful. I'm often too lazy to grab the crevice tool on the couch and leave it for next time. Also on the stairs, you always have all the tools with you. The smart function is also nice: no more switching from parquet to carpet. Because the sound is quite soft, you do wonder whether it does it well: but I read that in all the reviews and that is of course mainly because you are used to that roaring sound, especially on a carpet. And then I think: oh no, this is a silent vacuum cleaner. I also notice as I read in other reviews that the suction sound actually makes more noise than the motor. If you turn it on without sucking, it is really very quiet, but that makes no sense of course. I don't know yet whether I find the handle to lift it really handy and because of the long cord, rolling it up is also a bit sluggish in my opinion. In short: a super fine vacuum cleaner that is quiet and has great tricks!
