What's the noise level of a dryer?
Choose dryer noise level
When buying a new dryer, keep the noise level in mind. That way, you know if the dryer is suitable for your living space. There are 4 different dryer noise levels:
- Much more silent than average (< 62dB)
- More silent than average (63 - 64dB)
- Average (65 - 66dB)
- Loud (> 67dB)
Are you living in a studio or small space? Choose a dryer that's as silent as possible.
Much more silent than average
A dryer that's much more silent than average is useful if you live in a studio or small apartment. You can dry your laundry in your living room or bedroom when you're in that same room, for example. With a maximum noise level of 62dB, you'll experience the least amount of noise.
More silent than average
If you're looking for a dryer that's more silent than average, choose a dryer with a noise level of up to 64dB. That's useful if you dry at night, but want to sleep peacefully. Do you want to place the dryer in your open kitchen or near your living room? A silent dryer is a great choice. Keep in mind that you can still hear the dryer in an open space.
Normal noise level
An average noise level is a noise level between 65 and 66dB. This is comparable to 2 people having an enthusiastic conversation. It's best to place this dryer further away from your bedroom or living room, because you can clearly hear it while it's running a cycle.
Loud dryer
A dryer is loud when it has a noise level of 67dB or more. Are you placing the dryer in the basement or in a shed? A loud dryer isn't a problem. If you sleep close to your dryer or live in a small space, look for a more silent dryer.
