How do you cook on induction?
Different settings
When you cook on a gas cooktop, most people look at the flame. When you cook on induction, you don't look at the size of the flame, but at the setting. A high setting is the same as a high flame. A lower setting is equal to a lower flame. You can operate a gas cooktop with dials. Most induction cooktops have sensor buttons, which allow you to choose the right setting. with a cooktop with a slide function, you can slide the setting up or down with your finger.
Cooktop stays cool
It's safe to cook on induction. It creates a magnetic field between the cooktop and the pan, so only the bottom of the pan heats up. If there's no pan on the cooking zone, it won't heat up. If you remove the pan from the cooktop when you're done, it'll turn off automatically. Even though the cooktop itself doesn't heat up, there'll be some residual heat after cooking. This will cool down in no time.
Suitable pans
To cook on induction, it's important that you have the right pans. The bottom of the pan has to be magnetic, so it can make contact with the cooktop and heat up. It's also important that the bottom of the pan is flat. If the bottom of your pan is warped slightly due to cooking on gas, it's not a problem.
