Everything on working from home ergonomically and setup

Working in an ergonomic way can be a challenge. We often slump in our chair or forget to do some stretching exercises. But you do want a healthy working posture. That's why it's important to work ergonomically. This way, you won't develop any physical complaints caused by a bad posture.

This is how you can set up your office chair ergonomically

Make sure that every part of your home office is set up ergonomically. Let's start with your desk chair.

Step 1: choose a desk chair that supports your lower back properly. This prevents you from slumping in your chair and assuming the wrong posture.

Step 2: put your legs at a 90-degree angle when you sit in your desk chair. Your height determines the ideal height of your desk chair. This way, your upper leg is supported and you won't slump in your chair.

Step 3: set up your armrests in a way that you can relax your shoulders. This allows you to assume a good position.

Step 4: place your mouse and keyboard on your desk and make sure you can reach it without having to adjust your posture. Don't unfold the feet of your keyboard, as that strains your wrists. An ergonomic mouse also improves your posture.

This is how you can set up your screen ergonomically

Now that you've set up your desk chair, you can set up your monitor.

Step 1: make sure your desk is at the same height as the armrests of your desk chair. This ensures that your shoulders can remain relaxed and that you can easily type without having to strain your wrists.

Step 2: ensure that the top of your monitor is at eye level. When you stretch your arm, you have to be able to touch the screen.

Step 3: the same applies if you work with a laptop. Use a laptop stand to get your laptop at eye level. Make sure to watch in a straight line as much as possible to prevent back and neck problems.

Tips to keep working from home as healthy as possible

Tip 1:: for every 20 minutes of screen time, try to take 2 minutes away from your screen as well. This way, you rest your eyes and you're more focused after.

Tip 2: switch between standing up and sitting down as much as possible. Don't have a sit-stand desk? Just stand up every now and then, stretch, and grab a cup of coffee.

Tip 3: make sure you get enough fresh air and allow yourself a walk for some exercise every now and then.
