Do you have the right connector for an electric cooktop?
Step 1: check which socket you have in your kitchen
To decide whether you have the right connector for a ceramic cooktop or induction cooktop, you first check the sockets in your kitchen. There are 3 types of sockets:
- 2-pole socket (2 holes and 1 pin)
- Fixed connector (socket with fixed cable)
- 4-pin connector
Do you have a fixed connector or 4-pin connector in your kitchen? Go on with step 2. Do you only have 2-pole sockets? Go on with step 3.
Step 2: connect plug or cable
Do you have a fixed wall connector? Then you connect this cable to the cooktop. Are you using the cable that you receive with the cooktop? Remove the cable that is already attached to your fixed connector and use the cable that belongs with the cooktop. For a 4-pin connector, it's important that you connect the plug to the cable the same way as the wiring in the socket. Don't have any experience when it comes to working with electricity? Have a qualified electrician do this for you.
Step 3: convert 2-pole to 3-phase electric power
For a multi-phase cooktop, you don't just need a different socket. Your fuse box also needs to be suitable. Don't have the right connection? Call an electrician to make your fuse box suitable for 3-phase electric power. How much this costs will depend on your situation. You can have your socket converted for the right connection at the same time.
