5 tips to remove stains from your clothes

Red wine on your white dress shirt, grease or oil on your shirt, or candle wax on your new dress. After a nice dinner, you suddenly see a stain. Not again. It happens more often. Luckily, Coolblue can help. You can read what to do about stubborn stains here, so you laundry is clean again soon.

Every stain requires a different treatment. We'll give you the most important tips.

  • Tip 1. Grease or oil: rub a bit of dish soap on the stain.
  • Tip 2. Tomato sauce: spread toothpaste on the stain.
  • Tip 3. Red wine: pour baking soda and white natural vinegar on it, or use white wine.
  • Tip 4. Makeup: dab water with white natural vinegar on the stain, or use shaving foam.
  • Tip 5. Grass: spray the stain with glass cleaner, or use green soap. Note: always test on a discreet piece of fabric first.

With a grease or oil stain, do the following:

  1. Spread a bit of dish soap on the stain.
  2. Let it soak for about 10 minutes.
  3. Do you have an issue with candle wax? Fold a paper towel and lay it on the stain.
  4. Iron the paper towel, so it absorbs the wax, and wash your clothes afterwards.
  5. Rune a wash cycle and look for the right temperature on the laundry label.

Tomato sauce on your clothes? You can remove the stain like this:

  1. Spread toothpaste on the stain.
  2. This solution works best with a light fabric.
  3. Wash your clothes like you're used to afterwards.

Tip 3: remove red wine

Get started right away with red wine:

  1. Spread baking soda over the stain.
  2. Pour white natural vinegar over it.
  3. Pour until the baking soda dissolves. Be aware, this will bubble.
  4. Gently dry the spot with a cloth.
  5. Another way: pour white wine over the stain and wait 20 minutes.
  6. Rinse the stain with cold water and make sure it doesn't get on the rest of your clothes.
  7. Wash your clothes in the washing machine, and look for the temperature on the laundry label.

Tip 4: remove makeup

Oh no, lipstick or foundation on your shirt. That's no problem with these tips:

  1. Mix water with white natural vinegar on a cotton swab.
  2. Gently dry the spot. Note: don't rub too hard.
  3. Another way: let dish soap soak on the stain.
  4. Another solution: spray the stain with shaving foam and gently rub it in.
  5. Run a wash cycle like you're used to.

Tip 5: remove grass
