How do you make a cappuccino with a milk frother?

In this article, we'll explain how to make a cappuccino with a milk frother. You use a milk frother separately from your coffee machine, so you can easily turn black coffees into milk specialties. Pour the milk of your choice into the reservoir and pour the milk in the cup when it reached the right temperature. You can read how to get started below.

Make a cappuccino in 4 steps

We'll explain how to make a cappuccino with a milk frother in 4 steps. In the video, we use a Nespresso milk frother as an example. We'll go through these steps in this article:

  • Step 1. Add the milk
  • Step 2. Froth the milk
  • Step 3. Make a cappuccino
  • Step 4. Clean the milk frother

Step 1: add milk

Adding milk

Pour cold or room temperature milk into the milk frother. For thick and soft foam, use whole long-life milk. Make sure you don't go over the maximum amount. This is indicated in the inside of the milk frother with a line. If the milk frother froths milk, it expands. You don't want the cup to overflow.

Step 2: froth the milk

Froth milk

If the milk is in the cup, put on the lid and press the button. The milk frother froths and heats up the milk for you. You'll have warm milk with a foam layer within a minute. Some milk frothers also allow you to make cold milk foam for an iced coffee. In that case, there's a separate button for that.

Step 3: make a cappuccino

When the foam is ready, you can pour the milk in the cup. The advantage of frothing milk yourself is that you determine the ratio. You can make a cappuccino or latte macchiato as you like it. How many cappuccino you can make in 1 go depends on the size of the milk frother. For 1 person, a 150ml capacity is enough.

Step 4: clean the milk frother

Cleaning your milk frother

Make sure to clean to milk frother after each use in order to prevent caked up milk residue. The easiest way is to clean the beater under the faucet immediately after use. Don't wait too long before doing this, otherwise you won't be able to clean the small spaces between the spiral. There are milk frothers that allow you to take out the beater. With other models, the beater is attached to the lid. After cleaning the beater, clean the inside of the milk frother with a kitchen towel.
