Transfer books to your Kobo e-reader
There are different ways to transfer books to your Kobo e-reader. In this article, we'll give you 3 tips how to do so.

Tip 1: charge your battery
Make sure your e-readers is charged for at least 30% before you start. If you transfer books to your e-reader via a computer, you need the included USB cable.
Another possibility if to transfer books to your e-reader via a WiFi connection. Make sure you know the WiFi password. If you had a Kobo e-reader before, and you already have a Kobo account, make sure you know the username and password.
Tip 2: transfer books via your laptop or computer
Via Windows
- Connect your e-reader to your Windows laptop or computer via a USB cable.
- Open the folder with e-books in Windows Explorer. Click on the files you want to transfer while you hold 'Control'. Do you want to select all files? Press 'Control + A' on your keyboard.
- Next, press 'Control + C'.
- Go to the folder of your e-reader. Click on the window and press 'Control + V'. It doesn't matter in which folder you put the book. You can create a folder yourself too, one that's called 'Books', for example.
- All files are now transferred to your e-reader. Wait until the transfer is done, and don't forget to click 'Remove safely'.
Via macOS
- Connect your e-reader to your MacBook or iMac.
- Open the folder with all e-books with Finder.
- Select the relevant files. If it's about a few e-books, you can click on the titles while you hold the 'Command' key. Do you want to select all books in the folder? Press 'Command + A'.
- Press 'Command + C' to copy all books.
- Go to the folder of your e-reader. It doesn't matter in which folder you place the book. You add it to the main folder or create a folder yourself. Click on the window and press 'Command + V'.
- You now place all e-books on the device. Don't forget to click the ejection icon, before you disconnect your e-reader.
Via Chromebook
- Connect your e-reader to your Chromebook via a USB cable.
- Open the folder where you store your e-books. That's a folder on your Google Drive or in you local files.
- Easily select all the files in the folder via 'Control + A'. Do you only want to transfer a couple of titles from the folder? Click on these files while you hold 'Control'.
- Press 'Control + C'. Next, go to the e-reader folder.
- It doesn't matter in which folder you put the book. You can create a folder yourself too, one that's called 'Books', for example. Click on the windows and press 'Control + V'. You now transfer all files.
- Make sure you remove the e-reader safely before you disconnect the cable.
Tip 3: put books on your e-reader via WiFi
With your Kobo account, you can easily transfer books to your e-reader.
- Go to the Kobo Shop via the web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer.
- Log in with your Kobo account.
- Find your books and put them in your shopping cart. Buy any books you want.
- Make sure you're logged in on your e-reader with your Kobo account.
- Tap the icon for synchronization. All books are transferred to your e-reader automatically.
