Should you choose a gas cooktop or induction cooktop?
With or without gas connector?
Most houses have a gas or electricity connector. Does your house only have a gas connector, but do you want to have an induction cooktop? You'll have to install a connector that delivers enough power for your cooktop. If you only have an electricity connector, you can't choose a gas cooktop.

Which cooktop is the safest?
Gas
Some gas cooktops switch off the gas supply automatically when the flame goes out or if it's being used for unusually long. Still, this isn't the case for all models. If you forget to turn off your gas cooktop, your kitchen will start smelling like gas and there'll be an explosion risk. After cooking, the cooktop will stay hot for a long time. This means you can still burn yourself. This isn't great when you often forget to turn off your cooktop or have small children.
Induction
An induction cooktop is much safer than one with gas. If there isn't a pan on the cooktop, it won't work. That means that in case your child turns it on and puts their hand on it, nothing will happen. When you remove a pan after cooking, the cooktop turns off automatically. There's still some residual heat on the glass cooktop, but that'll be gone quickly. That useful if you often forget to turn off the cooktop or have small children.
Which cooktop suits me best?
Gas
If you want to see the flame, choose a gas cooktop. You can see how high the fire is and whether it should be higher or lower. This is useful and also gives a certain atmosphere. If you enjoy using a wok and often cook with one, choose a gas cooktop. You can prepare your meal on high heat for a short time. Keep in mind that cooking on gas is less energy-efficient and that it'll disappear within 30 years due to the Climate Act. Decide when you want to switch.
Induction
Cooking on induction can be scary in the beginning, because you don't see the fire. That means you can't see how powerful a setting is. Even though you don't see anything, cooking on induction is safer than gas. That's because there's no fire involved and the cooktop only heats up the zone the pan is on. Another advantage of induction is that this form is more energy-efficient and better for the environment. If you want to save energy, choose an induction cooktop.
