How do you fix a Bosch dryer error yourself?

Your Bosch dryer is indicating an error, like E01, E02, or E03. That's a bummer, but it's fortunately not necessary to call a technician for every error. You can solve the error yourself in some cases by cleaning the dryer, for example. You can read what every Bosch dryer error means and what you have to do to fix it here.

Bosch error E01 or E02

Bosch error E01 E02

The lint trap is clogged, so clean it this way:

  1. Take out the lint trap.
  2. Remove the large bits of dust.
  3. Rinse the filter under the faucet.
  4. Put the lint trap back in.

To prevent future errors, empty the filter after every dryer cycle.

Bosch error E03

The condensation drain hose is kinked or clogged.

  1. Check if there's a kink in the hose and straighten it out.
  2. Isn't there a kink? It's possible the hose is clogged.
  3. Detach the hose clamp from the siphon.
  4. Carefully remove the drain hose.
  5. Clean the hose and siphon connector.
  6. Place it back.

The heating circuit is malfunctioning. Bosch recommends having this repaired by a technician.

The power source of the dryer is malfunctioning.

  1. Turn off your dryer and take the plug out of the socket.
  2. Plug it back in after a few minutes.
  3. Restart the program.
  4. Doesn't the error code disappear? Let a technician take a look.
  5. You might need a new power supply unit.

Bosch notification 'Care'

The dryer needs maintenance that you can perform yourself.

  1. Set the dial to the cotton cycle (the option next to the off-mode).
  2. Press the symbol with the iron (at the bottom of the display) and don't let go.
  3. Turn the dial a quarter to the right at the same time (level it to the delicate wash cycle).
  4. 'CP1' and the cycle duration appear on the display.
  5. Pour 1.5L of hot water into the condenser reservoir.
  6. Put the reservoir back until you hear it click.
  7. Press the start-pause button to start the maintenance cycle.
  8. When the dryer is clean, 'End' will appear on the display and you'll hear a sound.
  9. Empty the reservoir and put it back.

Other errors

Bosch error E08

Do you have one of the errors below? The electronics can't function properly due to a malfunction or defect. Bosch recommends having this checked out by a technician:

  • E08 or E09
  • E24 or E25
  • E63
  • E90

Error 'empty reservoir' appears

When the light for the condenser reservoir comes on, the reservoir is full. Remove the reservoir from the dryer and empty it in the sink. When you put the reservoir back and start the dryer cycle, the notification should disappear. Is your dryer connected to the water drain and do you still see this error? Check the manual to learn how you can manually turn off the light. Also make sure there's no loop in the drain hose. The drain also shouldn't be higher up than 1m.

Clean the condenser, just to be sure. With a condenser dryer, you take the condenser out of the dryer and rinse it under the faucet. With a heat pump dryer, the condenser is fixed into the machine. You can clean it from the outside with a vacuum brush. It can also help to unplug the plug from the socket for 30 minutes and restart the dryer cycle. Do you still see the error? Contact the customer service if the dryer is still covered by the warranty, or contact the Bosch service point.
