How do you maintain your Bosch washing machine?

Your Bosch washing machine lasts longer if you maintain it properly. That's why it's important to clean it regularly. This way, you keep your washing machine from smelling badly and you make sure it continues to work well. Here, you can read how to maintain your Bosch washing machine the right way. For example, it's important you clean the detergent drawer every now and then and to run a cycle at a high temperature with an empty drum.

It's a good idea to regularly clean your Bosch washing machine. You can do this as follows:

  1. Clean an empty drum at 90°C.
  2. Rinse the detergent drawer.
  3. Wipe the door seal with a moist cloth.
  4. Empty the drain filter at the bottom of the washing machine.

Clean drum

Use the 'Drum Clean' cycle every month to prevent bad smells and detergent buildup. This way, bacteria don't get the chance to form. If your washing machine doesn't have this cycle, use the cotton cycle at 90°C. Don't put any laundry in the drum for this cycle and don't use any detergent or fabric softener either. Open the door as soon as the cycle has ended.

Rinse detergent drawer

Detergent and fabric softener are regularly left behind in the detergent drawer. It's important to give it a thorough clean every few months, because remaining soap buildup makes your laundry greasy and stale. Carefully remove the detergent drawer. Remove the inserts from the drawer. After, you can clean the soap container and any inserts with warm water and a moist cloth. Make sure everything is properly dry before you put it back in the washing machine.

Clean detergent drawer with i-DOS

Does your Bosch washing machine have i-DOS? Make sure you clean the washing machine every time you change detergent or fabric softener. First, you remove the gray caps. Then you empty the drawer and detach it with the lock on the left. Carefully remove the top and rinse the drawer thoroughly. Make sure you don't get water on the blue part at the back. After you've dried off the detergent drawer, you can put it back, along with the caps.

Wipe door seal

If you want to keep your drum from smelling bad, you should regularly clean the gray door seal. Fill up a bucket with hot water and a bit of dishwashing liquid. Thoroughly clean the inside and the outside of the rubber seal with a moist cloth, because you'll often find dirt and grease here. Make sure you dry off the rubber seal at the end.

Emptying the drain filter

Clean the drain filter 2 times a year. Open the hatch at the bottom of the washing machine. Take out the hose that drains the water. Detach the filter and collect the water that's still inside in a bucket or with a towel. Once all the water has come out, you can thoroughly clean the interior with a moist cloth. After, make sure you close the filter tightly and check if the handle is positioned vertically. Put the hose back in place and close the hatch.
