How do you convert a ventilation system range hood to recirculation range hood?
Important during conversion
When you convert a range hood, keep in mind the following:
- Make sure you have the correct carbon filters or the correct recirculation kit.
- Check if the range hood has enough space at the top.
Step 1: check which accessories you need
Depending on the type of range hood, you either need carbon filters or a recirculation set. In a recirculation set ,you'll find extra accessories in addition to carbon filters to convert your range hood. On the product page of each range hood, you can find exactly what you need in the specifications. Order the recommended filters or set.
Step 2A: I only need a carbon filter
Most range hoods only require carbon filters. You can attach this to the motor. You can simply click some filters in place. With other filters, you need a screwdriver. Check the included installation manual of the filters to see how to use these filters, because this differs per type of range hood and brand. With the carbon filters, your range hood purifies the cooking fumes. The range hood then blows the clean air back into the room.
Step 2B: I need a recirculation set
Some range hoods require a recirculation set. This usually consists of a spacer and 1 or more carbon filters. Place the filters for the engine to filter the cooking fumes. You can either click them into place or need a screwdriver. With the included spacer, you ensure that the range hood doesn't get rid of the air, but blows it back into the room in the right way. Check how to use the recirculation set in the included installation manual. This differs per type of range hood and brand.
Step 3: carefully check your range hood model
Do you want to place your range hood in a kitchen cupboard? Then it is important to ensure that the range hood has enough space at the top to blow the air back into the room. If it doesn't, it's not possible to recirculate the air. Attach a grid on top of your cabinet to ensure that no dirt or dust gets into your range hood. Models like wall-mounted range hoods that aren't built-i, blow out the air via the side.
