How to transfer your data from Android to iPhone?

When you get a new iPhone, it's only natural you want to keep the photos, contacts, and other data from your old device. Luckily, you can easily transfer the data from your Android or Samsung smartphone to your new iPhone. You can use the 'Move to iOS' app for this. We'll explain how that works.

Trade in your old smartphone for a discount

Transfer data from Android/Samsung to iPhone

Make sure your smartphones are charged to at least 30% before you start. Then go through the following steps to transfer your data from Android to iOS.

  • Step 1. Connect your iPhone to WiFi
  • Step 2. Download the 'Move to iOS' app
  • Step 3. Select your data
  • Step 4. Set up your new iPhone

Step 1: connect your iPhone to WiFi

  1. Turn on your new Apple iPhone. Choose a language, country, and region.
  2. Tap 'Set up manually' at the bottom.
  3. Connect to a WiFi network,
  4. Choose 'Transfer data from Android' on this screen.

Step 2: use the 'Move to iOS' app

You do this on your old device. Keep the iPhone near you.

  1. Go to the Google Play store and download the 'Move to iOS' app.
  2. Open the 'Move to iOS' app on your Android device.
  3. Tap 'Continue'.
  4. Tap 'Agree' at the bottom.
  5. It doesn't matter whether you choose 'Send automatically' or 'Don't send'. After that, give the app permission to access your location.
  6. Tap 'Continue'.
  7. Grab your iPhone. You'll see a code on the screen.
  8. Enter the code on your old Android device. You can now select the data you want to transfer.

Step 3: select your data

Select all your data at this step. Think of your photos, contacts, and your WhatsApp conversations.

  1. On your old Android device, choose what data you want to transfer. Once you've selected everything, tap 'Continue'.
  2. When the data has been transferred, you'll see 'Transfer completed' on the screen of your Android device. Tap 'Done.
  3. You'll also see 'Transfer completed' on your iPhone screen. Tap 'Continue'. Now, set up your iPhone.

Step 4: set up your new iPhone

All your data is on your new iPhone. Now, all you have to do is set up your new iPhone. You do need an Apple ID for this. If you don't have one, you need to create it. Below, you'll find a link with an explanation. Do you already have an Apple ID or have you created one? Follow the steps below.

  1. Sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Once you're logged in, follow the steps on the screen. Set your screensaver, for example.
  3. Once you've completed all the steps, you'll see 'Welcome to the iPhone' on the screen. Swipe up. Your data has now been transferred.
