How does Apple Pay work?
Which banks support Apple Pay?
Before you start setting up Apple Pay, check if your bank supports Apple Pay. The following banks in Belgium support Apple Pay:
- AION NV/SA
- BNP Paribas Fortis
- Bunq
- Buy Way
- Curve
- Fintro
- Hello bank!
- iCard
- Monese
- N26
- Revolut
Set up Apple Pay
Set up Apple Pay on the iPhone/iPad
Before you can use Apple Pay to make payments, you need to add your debit card to the Wallet app. This works as follows:
- Open the Wallet app and tap + in the top right corner.
- Follow the steps on the screen to register your debit card.
- Press 'next' to check your bank.
- Request approved? Your debit card will appear in Wallet. You can now use Apple Pay.
Set up Apple Pay on the Apple Watch
Before you can use Apple Pay, you need to add a debit card to your Apple Watch. This works as follows:
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap 'My Watch'.
- Select 'Wallet & Apple Pay'.
- Follow the steps on the screen to add your debit card.
- The bank checks if your debit card is eligible for Apple Pay.
- Request approved? You can now use Apple Pay.
Set up Apple Pay on the MacBook
On your MacBook, you can use Apple Pay to make payments online. To set up Apple Pay:
- Open 'System Preferences' and select 'Wallet & Apple Pay'.
- Add your debit card and follow the steps on the screen.
- The bank checks if your debit card is eligible for Apple Pay.
- Request approved? You can now use Apple Pay.
Use Apple Pay in the store
Apple Pay on your iPhone
- Hold your iPhone against the payment terminal. The added Apple Pay card usually appears automatically. If it doesn't, follow these steps:
- iPhone with Face ID: Press the button on the side of your iPhone twice. Scan your face with Face ID or enter your access code.
- iPhone with Touch ID: Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner.
- Hold the top of your iPhone near the card reader.
- Does it say 'Successful' and do you see a check symbol? The payment is successful.
Apple Pay on your Apple Watch
- Turn your Apple Watch with the screen facing the reader. Usually, the added Apple Pay card appears on the screen automatically. If this doesn't happen, press the button on the side twice.
- Hold your Apple Watch in front of the reader and wait until the payment is successful.
- The Apple Watch taps your wrist if the payment is successful.
Use Apple Pay in the Coolblue app
Apple Pay on your iPhone
To pay with Apple Pay in the Coolblue app, choose Apple Pay as the payment method. This works as follows:
- Do you have an iPhone? A black Apple Pay button appears during checkout. Tap this button.
- Confirm the payment.
- An iPhone with Face ID: Press the button on the side twice and scan your face.
- An iPhone with Touch ID: Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner.
- An Apple Watch: Press the button on the side twice.
- Does it say 'Successful' and do you see a check symbol? The payment is successful.
Apple Pay on your iPad
To pay with Apple Pay in the Coolblue app, choose Apple Pay as the payment method. This works as follows:
- Do you have an iPad? A black Apple Pay button appears during checkout. Tap this button.
- Confirm the payment.
- An iPhone with Face ID: Press the button on the side twice and scan your face.
- An iPhone with Touch ID: Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner.
- An Apple Watch: Press the button on the side twice.
- Does it say 'Successful' and do you see a check symbol? The payment is successful.
Use Apple Pay in Safari
Apple Pay on your iPhone/iPad
To pay with Apple Pay in Safari, choose Apple Pay as the payment method. This works as follows:
- Click the black Apple Pay button.
- Confirm the payment.
- An iPhone with Face ID: Press the button on the side twice and scan your face.
- An iPhone with Touch ID: Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner.
- An Apple Watch: Press the button on the side twice.
- Does it say 'Successful' and do you see a check symbol? The payment is successful.
Apple Pay on your MacBook with Touch ID
- if you have a MacBook, a black Apple Pay button appears during checkout. Click this button.
- Follow the instructions on the Touch Bar and place your finger on the fingerprint scanner.
- Does it say 'Successful' and do you see a check symbol? The payment is successful.
A MacBook without Touch ID
If your Mac doesn't have Touch ID, you need an iPhone or an Apple Watch to confirm your payments.
- Make sure you're logged in on all your devices with your Apple ID.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your Mac.
- Click the black Apple Pay button to pay.
- Since you don't have Touch ID, use your iPhone or your Apple Watch to confirm the payment:
- An iPhone with Face ID: Press the button on the side twice and scan your face.
- An iPhone with Touch ID: Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner.
- An Apple Watch: Press the button on the side twice.
- Does it say 'Successful' and do you see a check symbol? The payment is successful.
