This is how you maintain a Saeco coffee machine
Avoid limescale
Replace the water filter
The AquaClean water filter prevents limescale in the pipes of your coffee machine. This is very important, because limescale buildup causes blockages. In addition, the coffee tastes better when the tap water is filtered. When you use the AquaClean filter, you only have to descale the machine once every 1.5 years. Make sure you replace this water filter in time. On average, you should replace it once every 3 months.
- Replace the water filter once every 3 months.
Descale the coffee machine
In addition to using a water filter, you also have to descale the coffee machine. That's because the water filter doesn't prevent limescale completely. How often you do this depends on the water hardness and how often you use the coffee machine. Your Saeco will automatically notify you when it's time to descale.
- Descale the coffee machine once every 1.5 years.
Thoroughly clean the removable parts
Clean the brew group
You should clean the brewing group of your Saeco coffee machine every week. You do this by removing the brew group from the machine and rinsing it thoroughly under the tap with lukewarm water. Don't use any detergent, it's bad for the brew group. You should also clean the opening that you removed the brew group from. You'll notice that a lot of coffee residue is left behind here. The easiest way to clean it is to carefully clear away the residue with a vacuum cleaner. To guarantee proper operation, you should also lubricate the brew group with special lubricant.
- Clean the brew group once a week.
Clean the milk system
If you leave milk residue for too long, it'll start to smell and mold. That's why you should make sure you rinse the milk system after each use. You clean the milk reservoir and/or milk tube if you're not going to make another cappuccino in the next 1.5 hours. In order to keep enjoying high-quality milk foam, you also have to clean the milk system every week with a special cleaner. Use the Saeco milk cleaning powder for this. This removes milk fats and protein buildup throughout the entire system.
- Clean the milk system after every use
Which cleaner is suitable for my Saeco?
We recommend you use cleaners from Philips/Saeco. That way, you know for sure you're cleaning your coffee machine the right away and don't damage it. You also prevent that the warranty becomes void because you've used the wrong cleaners. You can use the same cleaners for every Saeco model.
Follow the instructions in the manual
The best way to clean each part differs per coffee machine so make sure to grab the manual. This describes which actions you should carry out to properly clean every part of your coffee machine.
