What's the difference between Full HD and 4K?
Technical differences
Full HD
Full HD is the resolution you often see with televisions and projectors, Blu-ray players, and video content. The image is 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels high, which gives a total of 2.07 megapixels. Full HD is also indicated with 1080p. Don't confuse Full HD and HD ready. Due to the resolution of 1280x720 pixels, HD ready has less than half of the pixels that Full HD has. This difference is clearly visible on a large screen from a short distance.
4K
A 4K resolution is very common for televisions and projectors. It used to be called UHD and Ultra HD. The image resolution is 3840x2160, which comes down to 8.3 megapixels. TVs, media players, and videos with 4K resolution show 4 times more pixels than Full HD images. Many 4k televisions and video players have an upscaler that makes Full HD videos look sharper. As a result, you can also enjoy the sharper image of a 4K television for images that were recorded in Full HD.
Should you choose Full HD or 4K?
If you should choose a 4K television depends on a number of things. Are you a fanatic gamer or movie watcher? It's wise to choose a 4K television, because most movies and games will be available in that resolution. Do you mainly watch the news, talk shows, and a movie once in a while? You could choose Full HD. The screen size and the distance between you and the television is also important. The larger the television and the closer you sit to the screen, the more you'll be able to benefit from 4K. Experience the difference between Full HD and 4K in one of our stores.
The difference in offer
Full HD: TV programs
It's easy to find and watch Full HD content. Most television shows are broadcasted in Full HD resolution. You can also watch some games, movies, or videos in Full HD, but 4K has also entered the gaming and streaming world. Even on YouTube, where you'll still see Full HD videos, 4K is growing. Do you still use a DVD player? Most DVDs have a resolution up to HD ready, which is lower than Full HD.
4K: streaming channels and BluRay
The selection of movies, series, and games in 4K has increased immensely over the years. Most streaming channels offer their content in 4K as well, like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. Even on YouTube, more and more videos are available with 4K resolution. Many television shows often don't have a 4K resolution, or not yet. Some providers offer 4K packages, but the number of channels with content in this resolution is relatively limited.
8K televisions
Nowadays, there are more and more 8K televisions being sold. An 8K television displays 7680x4320 pixels, which is 4 times sharper than 4K and 16 times sharper than Full HD. With an 8K television, you're ready for the future. Click the button below for all 8K televisions in our assortment.
