Expert review of the Samsung S90D

For this review, I test the 65-inch version of the S90D. The first thing I notice about this television, is that the screen is very thin. This gives the TV a modern appearance. The screen is stable on the wide stand, which is easy to attach. Be careful when you install the television, because the screen feels very fragile due to the thin design.

The OLED S90D displays colorful images with a powerful contrast in 4K. Thanks to the smart AI processors, the peacock on the screen really comes to life. The image on the TV is automatically adjusted to the brightness in my room. This allows me to enjoy the best contrast and highest brightness when I watch my favorite series. I see many subtle color tones, so images look extra realistic.

Thanks to the OLED screen, the S90D has a powerful contrast. The screen has millions of pixels that light up and dim individually. For black parts of the image, the pixels are even turned off completely. As a result, black is truly black. Thanks to the high brightness of the screen, there's a big differences between the darkest and brightest parts of the image. This high contrast provides a realistic transition between light and dark.

Just like all OLED televisions, the S90D has a wide viewing angle. When I'm not right in front of the TV, the colors are still vibrant and with a high contrast. That means you can easily watch TV with a larger group of friends or family without quality loss for anyone. Thanks to the high brightness and anti-glare layer, I barely see any reflections on the screen. That way, you can also watch TV during the day in a bright room without being bothered by reflections.

The S90D has 3 speakers with a 40W total power output. That way, I can enjoy a room-filling sound when I watch a concert. Because there's no subwoofer or soundbar, I don't hear a deep bass and the sound is less powerful. Do you want an immersive viewing experience? I recommend an external soundbar with subwoofer. A matching Samsung soundbar works together with the TV speakers for the most realistic sound.

The menu of the extensive Tizen smart platform from Samsung provides a clear overview. On the start screen, I see all popular streaming apps right away. Via the smart buttons on the remote, I can go to Disney+ and Netflix at the press of a button. The S90D includes the Solar One Remote. This useful remote is compact and doesn't have many buttons, which makes it very easy to use. The remote charges itself with artificial light and daylight. That means you don't need batteries.
