Expert review of the Samsung QN92A Neo QLED TV
Samsung Neo QLED QN92A
- The Neo QLED screen provides a powerful contrast, a high brightness, and a wide color gamut.
- Object Tracking Sound+ ensures a spatial and realistic sound reproduction.
- Thanks to the Ultra Viewing Angle, the TV has a wide viewing angle and you can see the same image quality from every position.
- This TV doesn't have a Slim One Connect Box to connect all your peripherals via one transparent cable.
First impression of the Samsung QN92A
When I look at the QN92A between other Neo QLED TVs, it's as good as the more expensive and larger 8K Samsung televisions in terms of design. The TV looks sleek and minimalist. With the demo images from Samsung, I can see right away that the contrast and color representation are what I expect them to be. The images look detailed, true to life, and colorful. What stands out right away as well is the Solarcell One Remote. It works without batteries and charges with light.
Detailed images with clear color details
Though Samsung has made many improvements this year, they still use the familiar QLED technology. This image technology consists of tiny particles that let through the right color tones very accurately. This allows me to watch images with a lot of color details in an image with a burning red candle, for example. Instead of the candle just being red, I can see all kinds of different color tones. This makes images look very lifelike and especially HDR images come out well.
Powerful contrast
The unique advantage of Samsung's Neo QLED TVs is the mini LED backlight. This means that the thousands of small LED lights that light up to screen switch on and off individually. The TV improves the contrast this way, so I can see a big difference between the light and dark parts of the screen. With some images, I can still detect a small glow around light objects on a black background. This new form of local dimming is definitely an improvement, which I can mainly enjoy during a dark and exciting movie.
Good viewing angle, little reflections
The QN92A has Samsung Ultra Viewing Angle. This technology ensures that you can clearly see the image when you're watching the TV at an angle. When I'm watching it from the side, I can indeed see the contrast and colors of the screen hardly change. The anti-glare layer on the screen ensures I don't see everything reflected on the screen with dark images. This works very well, but bright lights in the room do reflect on the screen. If you don't have lights in the room that are too bright, this won't bother you too much.
Universal and minimalist design
Because of its simplistic design, the QN92A doesn't stand out from other televisions, but it does have a sleek and minimalist appearance. This makes the TV suitable for most interiors. The screen is surrounded by very thin bezels and is placed on 1 sturdy steel stand, which you attach to the middle of the TV. When you hang the TV on the wall, the design also comes out well. That's because the screen is less than 3cm thick, so it hangs very flat against the wall.
Powerful and spatial audio
With no less than 4 normal speakers, 2 upward-pointed speakers, and 2 subwoofers, the QN92A has the right equipment for an impressive sound reproduction. In my opinion, the sound is powerful and rich and I can clearly hear the bass. The sound follows the movements on the screen thanks to Object Tracking Sound. The distribution of the speakers on the TV ensures a spatial sound reproduction. I can clearly hear the circular motion of a coffee grinder when I'm watching it on the screen, for example. Another advantage is that the TV speakers work together with a Samsung soundbar thanks to Q-Symphony. This results in an even more detailed and powerful sound.
Versatile smart platform
The Tizen smart platform hasn't changed much in terms of appearance, but I can find a lot of new functions in the menu. For example, you can easily connect your PC to the TV without cables, so you have an extra large monitor when working from home. In addition, the QN92A has Samsung TV Plus. This streaming service offers all kinds of free TV channels, videos, and movies. This way, you won't ever be bored with this TV.
Energy-efficient and useful remote
The One Remote Control doesn't seem to differ much from the previous years, but Samsung has changed 1 crucial thing. You no longer have to replace batteries. On the back of the remote, there's a panel that charges the remote via sunlight and artificial light. It works very well, as you only have to charge the remote for 1 hour to use it for an whole year. Other than that, the remote feels familiar. It's comfortable to hold, looks good, and it's easy to use.
Conclusion
The true movie and series enthusiast will definitely be pleased with the QN92A. You can watch lifelike images with a powerful contrast thanks to the mini LED technology. The sound is spatial enough to enjoy an exciting chase in an action movie, for example. The TV doesn't have One Connect Box, which makes your set up slightly messier than that of the Samsung QN95A.
