First impression of the Samsung Neo QLED QN90C
I see the QN90C for the first time in the Samsung showroom. The thin and sleek design stands on a beautiful, flat stand. The TV includes a Solar One Remote. This remote charges itself with artificial and daylight, which means you no longer need batteries.
Colorful and smooth images
The images I watch on the QN90C are bright and colorful. The TV has a high 2000-nit peak brightness, which ensures bright images. Thanks to the 10-bit color depth, the television displays more than 1 billion color tones. For example, I notice many different color tones while I watch an image of a purple perfume bottle. Thanks to the high refresh rate of up to 144Hz, images are displayed smoothly. As a result, every single detail is visible when you watch movies or series or play a game. You can connect a gaming PC to get the most out of the 144Hz refresh rate. Note: with 43 and 50-inch models only.
Rich contrast
The TV uses Mini-LED local dimming. This means there are thousands of mini LED lights located behind the screen. These lights can light up and dim individually. Because these lights turn off completely, a strong contrast is possible. I notice this with the image on the TV. The black around candles is truly black, instead of having a visible glow around them. The colorful candles are still very bright and colorful, which ensures a strong contrast.
Wide viewing angle with anti-glare
I view the image of the QN90C from an angle and the image remains clearly visible. The TV features Ultra Viewing Angle technology. This makes the image clearly visible from anywhere in the room. Because of the Neo QLED technology, the TV retains the same color volume. I had no trouble with reflections when I took photos with the flash on. The QN90C has an anti-glare layer. As a result, you're hardly bothered with reflections from artificial and sunlight. This is useful if you often watch TV in a brightly-lit room.
Good sound
While I watch action scenes, I notice the sound right away. The TV uses the Object Tracking Sound+ technology. This means the sound moves along with the movements on the screen. With this technology, there are additional speakers on the top and sides of the television. Because of Dolby Atmos, I can also hear the sound above me. This makes it seem like an airplane is really flying over me. But, you miss the deep bass you want to experience during movies and series. You have to connect an external soundbar and subwoofer for this. The Q-Symphony technology combines the sound of the television and the soundbar.
Great user-friendliness
Just like all the other Samsung televisions, the QN90C has a screen-filling smart menu. I can easily navigate through all the popular streaming services and other apps in this menu. With the compact Solar One Remote, you can go to apps like Netflix and Disney+ at the touch of a button thanks to the 4 smart buttons. The remote only has a few buttons, which makes it very clear to use. The remote also feels comfortable in my hand.
Conclusion
The Samsung Neo QLED QN90C offers a complete viewing and listening experience for movie enthusiasts and gamers. The TV displays bright and colorful images on the 4K Neo QLED screen. With the anti-glare layer and Object Tracking Sound+, the TV is suitable for different types of use. Even though the sound that moves along sounds realistic, I do recommend an external soundbar and subwoofer.
