  • Via Bluetooth, you can stream your music wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet.
  • The earbuds are water-resistant, which allows you to use them during your workout too.
  • During a phone call, you'll only hear the other person via 1 earbud.
  • When you're watching a video, there's a delay between the image and sound.

First impression of the Bose SoundSport Free Wireless

First impression

When I unbox the Bose SoundSport Free Wireless, I notice that the charging case is quite large. Large than with other true wireless earbuds. The earbuds are in the charging case, which also seems to be larger than I'm used to. The box also includes a number of accessories, like a micro USB charging cable and 2 other sizes of the ear hooks.

Large earbuds

Earbuds in ear

My first impression was that the charging case is quite large. This impression seems to be right, since the charging case is less easy to take with you in your pocket due to its size. In addition, the earbuds are quite large too. They stick out of my ears quite far, which doesn't look very charming. I don't like the look of it myself.

Secure wearing comfort thanks to ear hook

Ear clip

Despite the size, the wearing comfort is good. I put the earbuds into my ears and twist them a quarter for extra firmness. It takes some time to get used to, since these in-ear earbuds don't go into my ear as far as other earbuds. The ear hook makes sure the earbuds don't fall out easily. These ear hooks keep them in place.

Great Bose sound

Test sound

Even though the looks aren't great, Bose does convince me with what's on the inside. The sound quality of the Bose SoundSport Free Wireless is good. There's a good balance between the tones and you can listen to a deep and full sound. Pretty much every type of music comes out well with these earbuds. I did expect the sound to be a lot clearer, based on my experience with other Bose audio products.

Small areas for improvement

Audio earbuds

Something I noticed with the earbuds is that the image and audio weren't aligned when I watched a video on Instagram. When I start the video, the sound will follow about a second later. Luckily, I didn't experience this on YouTube or Netflix, but it's still annoying. I also noticed that I only hear the other person via 1 earbud when I make a phone call. I'm not bothered much by this, but it can be annoying and is quite strange.

Conclusion

When you value sound quality a lot, the Bose SoundSport Free Wireless earbuds won't let you down. The sound is full and deep, and reproduces various popular music styles well. In addition, the ear hook ensures that you listen to music with a good wearing comfort. Do you want earbuds that are as invisible as possible? The earbuds by Bose aren't for you.
