Everything on the PlayStation 5 Pro
From PS5 to PS5 Pro
It's still uncertain when the PlayStation 5 Pro will be released. According to documents by Sony, there won't be a new generation of consoles until 2028. That's why a PS5 Pro seems to be a logical intermediate option. The same happened with the PlayStation 4. The PS4 Pro was a more powerful version of the PS4. According to rumors, the PS5 Pro will be released this year. The PlayStation guru Tom Henderson thinks the PS5 Pro will be released between September and November 2024.
8K gameplay and ray tracing
We expect Sony to take large steps towards 8K and ray tracing. The current PS5 Slim has 8K functions too, but not many games support this. Sony will probably make the PS5 Pro more suitable for their own 8K televisions. In addition, better ray tracing offers a more immersive gaming experience. Console architect Mark Cerny helps with the design of the ray tracing technology.

Faster chip and processor
The PlayStation 5 Slim has an AMD Zen 2 processor. For the PS5 Pro, Sony can switch to a Ryzen APU. This chip has a Neural Processing Unit. Easily said, this will make the technology in the PlayStation even faster. In his YouTube video, Paul Eccleston says the PS5 Pro can reach a speed of more than 3.6GHz. This is partially thanks to the stronger processor, which offers a nicer and smoother gameplay.
