Everything on induction cooktops
Cooking on induction
Cooking on induction is energy-efficient, safe, and quick. For these reason, it's becoming more and more popular. When you cook on induction, the pan is heated instead of the cooktop. If you turn on the cooktop without placing a pan on it, nothing happens. The heat is generated as soon as you place a magnetic pan on the cooktop.
Build in
A built-in induction cooktop looks neat and sleek in your kitchen. If you want to build it in properly, it's important that you know the thickness of your countertop and the niche dimensions of your counter. You can measure these yourself with a tape measure. A cooktop is always wider and deeper than the niche itself, because the appliance rests on the countertop.
Connectors
An induction cooktop requires the right connection. Check if you have the right type of socket in your kitchen and if you have a 2-phase or 3-phase connection. If the connection is unsuitable, the cooktop won't work properly and you'll blow your fuses. Since working with electricity is risky, we recommend you call in an electrician for this.
Switch from gas to induction
Anyone can switch from cooking with gas to cooking on induction. You need to check your connection for this and consider with how much power you want to cook. For many households, a 2-phase cooktop is sufficient. Do you want a very powerful cooktop? Read how to switch from cooking on gas to 3-phase electric cooking.
Compare
An induction cooktop and a ceramic cooktop are both electric, but they do differ. For example, an induction cooktop heats up faster, is more energy-efficient, and safer in use. A ceramic cooktop heats up more slowly than an induction cooktop and remains warm for longer after use. You don't need magnetic pans for a ceramic cooktop.
Environment
Induction cooktops use electricity to heat your pans. Do you want to contribute to a better environment? Cook on electricity. At the moment, it's still cheaper to cook on gas, but this will change in the future. You can find more information on the consumption of a cooktop and the affect on the environment in the following articles.
Tips after purchase
